Hazardous Waste - What Can You Do? When considering hazardous waste, there’s something that you should bear in mind. We can’t get rid of it for you. The thing about Hazardous waste is that it’s a very specialist kind of rubbish. Disposing of it requires you to be in the know about how to safely get rid of it. This isn’t something you can mess around with, as the effects of doing so can be massively detrimental. To try and help you make sure that you are in fact disposing of hazardous waste, we’re going to explore it in more detail.   What Is Hazardous Waste? Hazardous waste is different from normal waste in many ways. The contents of hazardous waste usually contains substances and materials which are considered to be too dangerous for the general public. This may include such things as asbestos, needles, and anything which may cause a serious infection or illness. Unfortunately, people do tend to wind up disposing of their rubbish in an improper way. Illegal dumping of hazardous waste is commonplace, so you have to be careful.   So, What Do I Need To Do? This can of course present a question to the minds of many. If you can’t put it in a skip, and it’s too dangerous to throw away, what are you supposed to do with it? This is the point at which you need to contact your local authority for advice on what to do. They’ll usually arrange to have it safely collected and disposed of for you, or they might give you some advice as to what you are supposed to do with your hazardous waste. It’s important that you take the time to follow their instructions, because otherwise you could put yourself and others at risk. Overall, hazardous waste is something that should not be taken lightly. It’s a very dangerous and problematic substance which shouldn’t be taken lightly. The issue which a lot of people face is that the method for disposing of it isn’t always clear. You have to be sure of what you’re doing and how I safely do it in order to protect everyone. Particular types of waste, for example asbestos, aren’t as common anymore. However, some kinds are very frequent and will require you to exercise caution. Needles and anything else that poses a risk of infection is often a very risky waste to mess around with, so please take care when handling it.

  • 0 Landfill Tax - A Guide

    0.00 of 0 votes

One thing that any kind of company needs to be familiar with is Landfill tax. Why? Because it can form a pretty integral part of the waste disposal process. What a lot of people don’t understand is what landfill tax actually is, how it works and how it can affect you as a person. To try and assist with this, we’re going to be taking a look at the landfill tax in more detail, in the hope that we can help you to understand just what it’s all about.   So What Is Landfill Tax? First things first. What is landfill tax? Why haven’t you heard of it before? The landfill tax was designed to try and make sure that companies, businesses and also skip hire services like ours aren’t putting too much reliance on landfill sites as a cheap and easy way to get rid of rubbish. In the past, a lot of companies were guilty of this, and it obviously can affect how much the environment is damaged. The reason that you haven’t heard of it before is because the homeowner doesn’t traditionally pay the tax - that responsibility instead falls to the company disposing of it (us, more often than not). Further compounding the issue is the knowledge that every year the amount of landfill tax charged goes up, to compensate for the ever shrinking number of places where you can dump materials.   What Can I Do To Prevent Landfill Tax? If you don’t want Landfill Tax to become part of your problem, you should always try and recycle wherever possible. It’s important that you take the time to reuse and reduce the waste you throw out, and to think carefully about what you put into a skip. Only then will you be able to help prevent Landfill Tax charges for yourself or the skip hire service you use.   Overall, Landfill Tax is something which you should be aware of, especially in an age where we’re very conscious of how much waste we use and how we can reduce it. Waste can be a problem and a source of headache, but you can take steps to cut down how much you wind up creating. It’s important to try and be environmentally conscious with your waste, because we do only have one earth and it can be damaged. If we don’t take the right steps now, it may be too late in the future.

    0.00 of 0 votes

Hiring out a Skip is a very good way of getting rid of massive amounts of rubbish all at once. However, there are going to be cases when you can’t just hire out a skip for your waste. There’s often certain rules and regulations which people need to take into consideration. To try and help you make sure that you’re doing the right thing with your skip hire, we’re going to look at a few things you need to know about licences.   When Do I Need A Skip Hire Licence? Thankfully, the situations where you actually need a Skip hire aren’t as frequent as you would think. If you’re going to put the skip on private property, then you’re going to find that you don’t actually need a permit. However, if you’re going to put a skip on the pavement or in the road, you need to make sure that you get a skip hire permit or licence.   Where Do I Get One? This kind of permit is actually quite easy to get. You just have to apply to the local council, and they’ll be able to give you permission to do so. They’ll inspect the area and be able to determine whether or not you should have a skip in your area. Most skip hire companies will contact the local authority on your behalf, although some will require you to speak directly to them in order to make sure that everything is going to check out okay. It’s just a question of making sure that you’ve looked through all of the different processes and application times well in advance. Otherwise you can run the risk of getting into trouble with the local authority, so you need to be on the ball.   Overall, these are just a few of the most important things that you need to know when it comes to a skip licence. It’s really important that you take the time to think about what you’re doing when it comes to a skip hire, because otherwise you’ll get yourself into trouble. A lot of companies will refuse to do business with you if you’re not doing the right things anyway, because they can come under fire as well. It’s much easier and hassle free for everyone if you take the time to make sure that you’re not doing anything wrong, and that you stick to the processes.

To that end, they’ve been well designed, made of durable materials, and applied to a variety of different tasks around the country and indeed the world. There’s a lot of different uses for a skip hire, although a lot of people don’t know what these uses are. To try and help with that, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the different options that you have available for a skip hire Croydon.   Garden Waste Big garden projects often generate a lot of waste. It’s easy to see why when you consider the magnitude of some of the modifications people make. But all that waste has to go somewhere, and that’s where a skip comes in. It can collect all kinds of different garden waste, and then remove it so it can go somewhere and be broken down, or turned into fertiliser. It’s certainly a lot easier than filling your vehicle with bags of clippings, so it’s worth looking into.   Household Renovations Household waste can be a major source of headache when it needs to be disposed of. The problem is that there is a lot of bricks, wooden beams and structural items that can become an issue. To try and change this, a lot of people use a skip. Why? Because they’ve got plenty of space and can be used to deal with all your waste all at once. That makes them a very precious resource in the eyes of the public, because most people know that renovations and changes in the home often cause a lot of debris. It’s just easier therefore to make sure that you turn it over and let the skip do the rest.   Overall, these are just a few of the uses for skip hire Croydon. As you can see, there’s a lot of practicality when you use a skip, and the options for it are quite varied. The skip is a very useful tool in any project or clean out, because it can take so many different items without a problem. This makes the skip a highly valued resource, and one which a lot of people have used and then rated highly.

  • 0 Recycling Glass

The Recycling Journey Of Glass  It is something that we use fairly frequently, and it’s a very precious resource. However, the way in which it is made puts a lot of pressure onto the environment. For this reason, a lot of people choose to recycle their glass because they’re assured that this has a better effect on the environment. But a lot of people don’t know what actually happens to this glass when it is recycled. To try and help you understand, we’re going to look at the recycling process here.   So, What Happens? To begin with, we have to take a look at glass as it leaves your home. It’s collected by the local authority, and transported to a recycling centre. The glass is then sorted by colour and size, and moved to a processing plant. There, it’s ground down into small pieces. The crushing process is designed to remove impurities and imperfections in the glass, with the finished product being the end result of exposure to all kinds of high tech instruments. From there, the glass is moved into a furnace and heated to extremely high temperatures. This melts it down and makes it suitable to be turned into something called a glob. This is, at a basic level, a spherical chunk of melted glass which is malleable and can be changed into a variety of shapes. The glass is then shaped into whatever design is required, and left to cool. As the glob cools down, the glass gardens and becomes what we’re familiar with. From there, it can be given a new label, cleaned and sent off to be used to hold something else. Overall, the recycling process is actually pretty cool when you think about it. Glass is originally made from sand, but the process is extremely complicated and taxing on our natural resources. However, this process is not as damaging, and means that the glass can be used for something brand new. On average, 60% of all the glass in the U.K. is recycled, which means that there’s not as much new material being produced on a daily basis. It’s important that we recycle as often as possible, because it’s vital to protect the environment as much as we can. Resources are limited, and this means that we have to be careful about what we throw away and what we can reuse. If not for us, but for the generations that will come after us.

  • 0 Disposing Of Computers - Waste On A Commercial Scale

    0.00 of 0 votes

Computers are difficult to try and dispose of safely. They’re not like normal waste because they often contain large amounts of sensitive data and hidden secrets. However, when you need to do a mass upgrade of your systems, you’ll have a lot of computers to dispose of in bulk. We’re going to be looking at a few tips for the safe disposal of these goods, so that you can make sure you’re getting rid of them in a way which doesn’t do any damage.   Backup All Data Before you even think about unplugging the computer, back up every single file and document you have in the system. You can worry about sorting through it all later, but right now you need to make sure that you have taken the time to collect each and every file in case something is valuable. You never know what you’re going to need to save, so it’s important to save everything.   Wipe The Computer Clean When all the data is safely stored and backed up, you need to then wipe the systems. A recovered hard drive can still provide someone with sensitive information, so you need to clear everything. The best way to do this is to reset the computer to factory settings, which will erase all files, passwords, programs and user preferences. It’s the most methodical way to protect data possible.   Use A Skip Now it’s time to throw the systems away. For this, a lot of people consider using skip hire Sutton as a way to get rid of their computers en masse. It’s easier than trying to dispose of them privately, and means you can throw things into the skip and forget about them. It’s also potentially quite cheap as well, so it’s worth looking into.   Overall, these are just a few of the different things you can do to safely dispose of old computers. A skip hire Sutton is obviously the best way to get rid of everything at the end, but you need to make sure the system is ready to be disposed of first. It’s important you take the right steps to protect your customers from people who might try and steal sensitive data, and also that you’ve made the time to backup all data. You want the transition from old to new computers to be as simple as possible, and that isn’t going to happen if you lose data.

This is known as hazardous waste, and requires a more considerate approach to safely dispose of. To try and help with the disposal of this waste, we’re going to be covering a few key facts that you should know about hazardous waste.   You Can’t Just Throw Away Hazardous Waste One thing that you need to know about hazardous waste is that you cannot throw it away without consideration. This kind of reckless action poses a serious risk to the environment and the wildlife, so you can’t do it. If you just throw away the rubbish, then where will it wind up? On a landfill site. That’s really not the place for it to be at all, because it will contaminate the land around it.   Improper Disposal Is A Problem  One thing that you need to be careful about is improper disposal. This would involve just throwing it away, or trying to get rid of it through incorrect channels. This is the kind of thing that can and will get you in trouble. You’re not only damaging the environment, but you’re also going to wind up with a hefty fine in the event that you’re caught doing it. People don’t take kindly to dumping of hazardous waste, because it’s obviously a danger to the environment around it. A lot of skips won’t take it either, so that’s not an option. • 0 Hidden Treasure - What’s Been Found In A Skip?

    0.00 of 0 votes

It’s amazing what some people will throw out. Skip hire Croydon companies are usually faced with the same rubbish again and again; construction materials, domestic waste. However, sometimes you’ll find things in a skip which are not all that common. We’re going to be taking a look at some of the unique things that people have found in the skips when they come back to the company. Letters From WWI One of the weirdest things that have ever been found by someone in a skip is letters which date all the way back to World War I. The letters were from a soldier on the frontlines, and were sent to his wife, who he loved very much. The soldier in question did survive the war, but was deeply upset by the atrocities and horrifying events he witnessed as a result of fighting.   A Caravan That’s right. You’re not imagining it, and neither are we. A skip hire company in the Newport area found a skip which had a 1.3 ton caravan resting on top of it. How it was perched up there is a mystery, but we do know that it wasn’t taken anywhere. Besides being highly dangerous, it also isn’t practical. Human Ashes One of the more odd things found in a skip, someone decided to throw away human ashes. The urns which contained the last remaining presence of the deceased were found by eagle-eyed workers who saved them from destruction. A relative managed to hear of the ashes, and was able to come forward and collect them, effectively saving them from being lost forever. Overall, these are just a few of the different things which you really would not expect to see in a skip, but they have appeared there nonetheless. While these aren’t items which we’ve seen in our skip hire Croydon, we’re not surprised that some oddities have been sighted! The most sensible option for anyone who is trying to dispose of rubbish in a skip is just to actually take a look at the guidelines, and then dispose accordingly. A skip is a valuable resource for people who are trying to get rid of a lot of rubbish en masse, but they also should not be taken lightly. A skip hire will just refuse to take a lot of items if they don’t fit into the guidelines of the skip, so it’s important to make sure whatever you do put in is allowed.   Contact us at Wastebusters Skip Hire to enquire about your rubbish and waste removal requirements across Croydon and surrounding areas.

  • 0 Celebrate Earth Day!

Earth Day - Will You Celebrate? The Earth is precious to us all. We live, love and share it’s lands together. However, it isn’t all that often that people come together and create a day which pays homage to the land we all know and love. It’s called Earth Day, and it’s coming to us very soon. We’re going to be looking at Earth Day in more detail, to try and make people aware of the event and its importance.   What Is Earth Day? Earth Day is an event which took place last year on the 22nd of April, and is expected to take place again at the same sort of time this year. The purpose of Earth Day is to try and make people aware of the need to have a healthy and safe environment. In the last 100 years, we’ve subjected our planet to a lot of punishment. Harmful gases and chemicals have been created and released into the atmosphere, and people have laid waste to the resources which occur naturally; things like forests and fossil fuels have been relentlessly pumped out of the ground.   The idea behind Earth Day was therefore quite sensible. Not only did people make a conscious effort to be more environmentally responsible, but those who were aware of the problems would try to pass that information on. The aim is to educate people; to make them aware that if we do not change soon, we could see the destruction of the environment as we know it.   So, Will You Celebrate? To celebrate Earth Day is perhaps a bit of a strange perception. If you want to be a part of Earth Day, then you should make an effort to be more environmentally conscious and to try and spread the word about the importance of recycling and reducing usage of fossil fuels. Overall, with Earth Day coming up, there’s no better time to be environmentally conscious. Really think about what you’re doing with your rubbish, how you’re using the resources we have, and what you can do to help protect the planet. There’s only one Earth, and one chance, so we have to make sure that we take every possible step to keep it in good condition, if not for ourselves but for generations to come. If you can make a difference, then please try and do. Whether it's just extra focused on recycling, or spreading the word about the environment, we can all do something.
